Here are a few trip reports submitted by
some of our clients. |
| Dever Couple - April 2011 |
 |
Mi Amor is to be avoided. The resort is in desperate need
of investment. The rooms are not nice. They are relatively clean, but very old,
musty, with old draperies, old bed clothes, hard mattresses, etc. No bedside
table, so no where to put a glass. The hot tub did not work at all any of the 3
days we visited. There are two pools, but one of them is completely empty. Is
there anything more pathetic than sitting beside an empty pool Depressing.
There were a grand total of 3 (THREE!) lounge chairs around the pool. They are
cheap plastic and breaking down from the sun. There were 3-4 regular plastic
chairs and one table. There was supposed to be a big party Saturday night.
Well, if 5 couples fully clothed and dancing to terrible Tico music is your
idea of fun, definitely go to Mi Amor. On a scale of 1-10, a negative 5. Do not
waste your money.
Castaways note: Mi
Amor is a basic little resort owned & operated by an American couple, Cindy
& Buddy from Florida. While the resort is typically clean and maintained,
it's usually more fun if you enjoy traveling with a group of 2 or 3
couples...or more. The resort's attraction is due to its location near the rain
forest where you can enjoy "eco adventures" close by. It's modest restaurant
serves up healthy, local food, too. With about 25 rooms, it's pretty quiet
unless you go with a group or if you enjoy independent adventure
travel. |

| A & I - September 2010 |

Club Mi Amor was by far better than we expected. Buddy and
Cindy Booker, and the entire staff at Mi Amor were the best hosts ever. They
made sure that our experience was very memorable.
Once you got the
arrangements booked for us and put us in touch with Cindy prior to our trip, we
told Cindy the kind of activities that we were interested in and upon our
arrival to Mi Amor, Cindy planned daily activities for us. Not only did Cindy
plan activities, but she made sure that they were to our liking. I'm very glad
that Cindy and Buddy took their time to take us to all the places that we
wanted to go and places that you and they suggested for us.
Perhaps
the facilities are not of a five star hotel; however, they are clean and well
kept which made us feel very comfortable. One of our favorite parts of the day
was during the meal time. Rio Las Palmas Restaurant's food was delicious and
the menu well sorted. Everything was prepared on the spot based on our
requests. There were no limitations in the restaurant as in a few of occasions
the cook prepared for us meals that were not in the menu. What's more the
Restaurant obtained a 5 star rating from us in decoration, service, hygiene and
taste.
In general, the "Ticos" (People from Costa Rica) are very kind
and pleasant. The same with the other foreign guests at Mi Amor, they were all
friendly and respectful. We can go on and on telling you about our trip over
some drinks as it will take some time. For now, we will just mention the
highlights:
- Cindy's Surprise Birthday Party, Mi Amor's staff was
very kind in inviting us and allowing us to participate
- Cindy and Buddy invited usI to join them on a day trip
to Tortuguero National Park during Costa Rica's Independence Day
Celebration,
- A trip to Finca Maquengue's waterfalls with Cindy and
Buddy,
- A night out to the Rodeo with Cindy and Buddy,
- The White Water Rafting Trip with Rios Tropicales, and
my favorite of all,
- The Saturday Night Parties with Cindy and her
staff.
We are very pleased with our choice to visit Club Mi
Amor in Costa Rica and will love to return. Thank you for all your help in
booking this great vacation. |

| Cliff & Patti - 2010 |

Patti and I just returned from there and
are planning on going back in soon. There are 25 rooms total12 are listed
as poolside and the rest are listed as garden side. The resort is not plush,
but the rooms are air conditioned and very, very clean. The whole resort is
compact and our room was 12 paces from poolside. The garden rooms are at most
100 feet away from the pool. The pool is a medium sized figure eight shape with
a bridge over the center of the eight. The large hot tub adjoins one end of the
pool with a large waterfall on the other end. Ten couples or more are
considered a takeover so you could control admission to the interior of the
resort for the duration of the group stay. Cindy & Buddy, the owners are an
American couple and opened the resort to a select group of locals for our
Saturday night party. The locals were fun and contributed to the enjoyment of
the party for all.
The rooms are air-conditioned and have ceiling
fans. The sink in the bathroom only has a cold-water tap. Warm water for the
shower is provided by the electric on-demand shower head. The room and bathroom
were very, very clean.
The restaurant is separate from the walled
resort and is open to and frequented by the local population. You must be
covered to dine in the restaurant so as not to offend the locals. The food at
the restaurant is very tasty and each plate is freshly cooked after it is
ordered. Breakfast was included in our group package. Menus were provided for
placing any food order. Lunch could be ordered and served around the pool or in
your room as desired. The resort also offers an all inclusive plan as
well.
There are several local attractions within reasonable driving
time. We hiked to a mountain waterfall and skinny-dipped in two separate pools
along the way. We toured a beautiful mountainside plantation home. We visited a
traditional Costa Rican farm and learned about raising macadamia nuts. We
visited a famous local Crocodile show. Shopping was fun in a local department
store in Guahiles and in shops in Limon.
The grounds around the resort
are lush with vegetation and flowers. You cannot see from one side of the
resort to the other because of the lush, dense foliage. There is a small river
running beside the resort behind a bank of rooms and a larger river that
adjoins the far back of the property.
If you do not demand the Marriott
sort of accommodations and want to experience a different sort of nude or
lifestyle-friendly resort, then this is the place. Cliff &
