 Montego Bay, Jamaica |
| Unfortunately... NO nude facilites... but if you want a
moderately priced, SuperClubs resort in the heart of Montego Bay... then this
is a great choice. |

Breezes Montego Bay is operated by
SuperClubs. The resort is adults only, all inclusive (all meals, snacks,
drinks, activities, taxes and tips), great for couples and a fun place for
singles (girls and guys). The resort, with 124 rooms and suites, is tucked into
a perfect part of Montego Bay, located on Doctors Cave Beach, in the heart of
Mo Bay. The property is economical for an all inclusive resort and is a great
place for both singles and couples, in our opinion. There are numerous bars,
restaurants, boutiques and discos within walking distance of the front door,
plus it's got Hurricane's, a fun disco atop the hotel, open for both hotel
guests and visitors from the public, which makes for a great, lively hot spot.
The only downer is that there is no nude beach at Breezes Montego
Bay...since all the beaches are public in Jamaica, nudity is NOT the norm for a
downtown beach.

If you land at Montego Bay's Sangster Airport,
you're there! Maybe 5 minutes from the airport by taxi or shuttle. The resort
is located on the premier tourist street in downtown Montego Bay, Gloucester
Avenue, considered by the locals to be perhaps the "main street" for the heart
of tourism in town.

This all-inclusive, adults only resorts has all the
amenities its sister resorts in the SuperClubs' chain boast (except a nude
beach), including all meals, all bar drinks, snacks, entertainment, organized
activities, a great (clothed) beach with lots of action, optional tours, taxes
and tips included.
Last time we were on island for two weeks, the fine
dining restaurant there, Martino's, served us the finest meal we experienced
(eclipsed perhaps only by Piacere at Grand Lido Braco).
Here is a list of the services:
watersports center, pool bar & grill, Jimmy's Buffet, Martino's restaurant,
tennis court, Hurricane's disco, Pelican piano bar, game room, fitness center,
shops, dining terrace at the pool, Doctor's Cave Beach.
There is a work
out spa, an on site beauty shop, a tour desk and even weddings can be held in
the little wedding garden adjacent to the hotel on the north side of the
property. Last time we were there, a young, obviously affluent couple from
South Africa was married there in a beautiful ceremony.
Marriage
ceremonies are free as are vows renewals. A small administrative fee is levied
by the local parish to register your marriage certificate. Cost is
approximately $150 although price is subject to change without notice. Your
wedding coordinator can confirm the actual cost and Castaways Travel can put
you in touch with her.

The resort does a great job in its three small restaurants
including Jimmy's Buffet for, snack bar & grill and Martino's fine dining .
Poolside snacks plus al fresco dining for breakfast, lunch and dinner can be
had at the inside/outside restaurant. Fine dining at the Marino's upstairs is
excellent and features an Italian-themed ambiance and you can enjoy excellent
beef, pork and chicken dishes, too, well prepared and not overly crowded.
Martino's is a sit down, served restaurant with reservations and long pants
required
There are four bars located throughout the resort, so you
won't go dry !
Best bets: Desserts there are great plus omelets in the
morning and jerk pork & chicken at the pool grill in the
afternoon.

The consistently best all inclusive room rates in the
SuperClubs chain can start as little as $120/person/night (or less, on sales)
at Breezes Montego Bay. Winter, high season rates can be 50% higher.
Rooms categories include: Oceanfront
suite, Deluxe ocean view, deluxe room and cabin (small, shaped like a ships
cabin...and the best value at the resort. Ocean view rooms are dynamite with
spectacular views of the bay and downtown on the upper floors.
Rooms
include double bed, queen beds or king beds, depending upon the category
selected. Rooms include: direct dial telephones, air conditioning, CD player,
satellite TV with VCR, Hair dryer (bring your own as the dryers are weakly
powered), iron and ironing board, coffee make with Blue Mountain coffee, safe
deposit box and clock radio.

A younger crowd most times with a good percentage of
singles (with a good mix of guys to girls) and couples. Adults only ages range
from mid 20s to late 40s.

The resort is on a fairly small spit of land but faces a
large, public beach area, not far from the airport and just down the street
from other beach hotels and Margaritaville. Breezes is actually a high rise
hotel, since beachfront real estate there is a premium. The resort is a tribute
to efficiency with 124 rooms tucked into a tight fit, leaving lots of space on
the beach.
There is no nude beach at Breezes Montego Bay.
A pretty typical beachside
atmosphere permeates the place with most daytime activities centered around the
resort's private pool or its beach, part of the Doctors Cave public area. All
beaches in Jamaica are deemed "public" by law so there is easy access for lots
of interesting clientele and fun characters in the crowd on the beach. You will
see lots of Brits on the beach who stay at several moderate high rise hotels
across the street on Gloucester Avenue from Breezes Montego Bay.
The
resort itself has the standard hotel services but the beach and pool during the
day plus the piano bar and disco at night are the main attractions at the
property. The location makes for a great spot to arrange for optional day tours
of the island or to make the obligatory trek down the street to Jimmy Buffett's
Margaritaville bistro a couple of blocks away.
Activity choices
include: sailboats, windsurfing, kayaks, snorkeling, tennis, fitness center,
water skiing, pool volleyball, pool basketball, glass bottom boat rides, table
tennis, bicycle tours, and scuba diving.
Entertainment includes: Guest
& Staff talent show, mixology classes, reggae classes, karaoke, sumo
wrestling in costume, bouncy boxing, circus school & trampOline clinic,
toga party, pajama party and body painting.
For a drop dead view, make
sure you take some time for a visit with your honey to the roof top Jacuzzi
with a spectacular setting, overlooking Montego Bay from about six stories
above the beach.

From Montego Bay, you can see most of the island's
attractions on the north coast. Not to be missed (or experience) is the local
craft market down by the traffic circle in town....walking distance from the
hotel.
One nice touch we noticed
last time we were there walking back on the street after a night on the town:
Uniformed security personnel were on patrol up and down Gloucester Avenue in
the middle of the night.
Dunns River Falls, rafting the Martha Brae
river, shopping and visits to the local great houses will keep you occupied off
property.

The roof top jacuzzi has a drop dead view of the bay
and is a great location, locate high atop the high rise hotel, perfect for a
late night rendezvous. |

Hotel is perfectly located for downtown fun and
games. |

 |
Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville is a short walk down
from the resort...not to be missed for sure, especially late at night or late
afternoon after everyone has had their fill of booze.......the water slide has
got to be experience if you're under the influence! |
| |
|
|
|
 |
How close can you get to the airport? This is
it....with only a few minutes ride to get to the airport, you can squeeze an
extra two-three hours out of your vacation. |

Anytime really, although late August to early October ,
there is officially a hurricane season, although no major storm has threatened
the island since 1988. Just pack an umbrella since it's liable to rain at any
time, but usually not for long. Plan on rain everyday and if it doesn't, you're
just one day into a great vacation.
SuperClubs Sunshine Guarantee says
the resort will award you a free night upon your return visit to the same
property if the sun does not shine at all during the day.

Wish they had a nude beach... and we wish they would make
their private swimming pool clothing-optional !
