Part
of the SuperClubs family, Breezes Golf & Beach Resort at Runaway Bay,
Jamaica, formerly called Jamaica Jamaica, is a sprawling, low rise resort
spread over 22 acres for adults only, singles and couples. It's right on the
Caribbean on the north shore of Jamaica, closer to Ocho Rios and east of
Montego Bay. This resort no longer has a nude beach. There are no nude or
clothing optional features at this resort. However, the resort does have
reciprocal visitation rights with Hedonism # 3, its sister resort about 5
minutes away from Breezes. Hedonism # 3 does have nude facilities and
amenities. You can walk or take a taxi for the short ride. Taxi cost is extra.
Breezes has 268 rooms and suites in several two story buildings with
two twin or king beds in each room. The latest addition is a building including
30 ocean front suites with its own pool on the west side of the property.
The resort has 238 rooms and suites in several two story buildings with
two twin or king beds in each room. Rooms are plain and clean but tropically
decorated with clock/radio, CD player, A/C, satellite TV, direct dial telephones,
iron and board, coffee maker, hair dryer, safe deposit box and private bath.
Breezes has several bars, a pretty buffet restaurant right on the beach and a
fine dining, ala carte restaurant, 2 jacuzzis, pools, night club, disco, work
out area, piano bar and shops. Golf is free as is tennis and many other
individual and team sports activities.
For weddings and honeymoons,
Breezes has several great locations and gazebos on the property for such
celebrations. On a day we were there, seven weddings were held (and no divorces
that we know of!).
For those of you who need to know, there is a
conference room with a maximum seating of 80 in classroom style.

Breezes is in Runaway Bay, Jamaica, a resort area
between Montego Bay to the west and Ocho Rios to the east. Located 42 miles
east of Montego Bay, it's located on the north coast of Jamaica, down the road
from Braco and adjacent to the new Hedonism III. It is closer to Ocho Rios than
Montego Bay on the main beach road between the two towns.
Most
travelers fly into Montego Bay. You may elect to take either the complimentary
bus shuttle to the resort or private car. The bus shuttle takes about an hour.
The resort is down the road a few miles from its sister property, Grand Lido
Braco.

basics are provided for one price. Included are: complimentary bus shuttle
between the airport and resort, room accommodations, all meals, bar drinks,
premium liquors, water sports, hotel taxes and gratuities. There are 5 bars on
site for your drinking pleasure.
Sports is this resort's middle name!
Breezes' athletic features include a big fitness center, aerobic classes,
games, free golf/green fees, golf school, arts & crafts, basketball, boat
rentals, a circus school, kayaks, sailing, snorkeling, SCUBA diving, tennis,

tipping is permitted. A plus is that golf instruction, lessons and video
instructions are included free of charge to registered guests. The golf course
is next door to the resort with practice green, driving range and chipping and
sand trap area.
Hurricane's Disco is on site plus live entertainment is
featured each night of the week with the resident band. Late night piano bar,
karaoke, theme nights and body painting round out the fun and games at this
resort.
Make sure you ask your waiter's name, introduce yourself, be
happy and converse with the locals. Remember, Jamaica is a low-income island so
be friendly but expect to be offered items for sale on the street. Drugs are
against the law.
Additions and Upgraded Services
ROOMS
Additional suites are being added gradually.
POOL AREAS An
additional pool expansion is in process with a swim up pool bar and grill. A
new spa is to be added.
The former nude beach area gets a new hot tub
deck and chairs plus a nude volleyball court.
NOTE: Please take care of
your valuables, cash, airline tickets and passports while on vacation. Some
vacation destinations are considered "third world" countries and experience
petty theft. Recommendation: Do not take precious jewelry unless you wear it
all times; keep your cash, valuables, watches, travel documentation and cameras
with you and don't expect your in-room safe to be "safe." Just a word of
caution to make sure you remember to practice common sense with your valuables
while you're on vacation.

A full buffet is served in the Beach Terrace, the one
main
restaurant open air on the beach for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The "fine
dining" restaurant in the main building called Martino's is ala carte and long
pants are required. It's nice to have waiters serve your dinner with wine
available out of a bottle. Say hello and be friendly. Jamaican, American and
seafood dishes are featured during the main buffets. The food is plentiful and
filling plus you can return for seconds and more. Premium liquors are served
along with beer and wine.
The Moonlight Restaurant and an Asian bistro
called Munasan are additions to the scene that provides additional dining
choices.
From 11AM-5PM, light snacks are served on the grill .
For late risers, continental breakfast is served via room
service.

The person nightly rates start at about $120/person/night
up to $250+/person/night, all inclusive. The lowest price can be secured via
vacation "packages" primarily. Seasonal specials and early booking discounts
apply some parts of the year. The rooms are classified according to size,
location and amenities--superior, deluxe, premium, luxury and ocean view
suites. Accommodations are located in several buildings perpendicular to the
beach plus a suites guest building that face the beach. Check with Castaways
for an exact quote for the resort and airfare. Room rates subject to change
without notice.

Guest ages vary from the lower 20s to over 50, with most
averaging in between. Some weeks, there are more couples; summertime sees more
singles generally when prices are lower. Couples comprise most of the guests.
Lots of newlyweds and honeymooners make this place popular due to free
weddings, a service provided by all SuperClubs' properties, as well as vows
renewals.

Guest rooms are fairly plain but guests usually
vacation at Breezes for its great sports activities, especially the free tennis
and free golf/green fees. The main pool area is huge and is the center of
daytime activities. There are nude beach and nude hot tub areas that attract a
more relaxed crowd after a hard day of sports. Nightly planned activities,
themes and entertainment all seem to set the stage for a summer camp for
adults. People are fun, friendly and set a really relaxed, laid back tone
during the day. Nightlife can be fun in both the big disco and cozy nightclub.
There's lots to do there, so pace yourself.
Dress throughout the resort
is casual, with beachwear the norm from thongs to shorts. Most guys and girls
wear shorts, T shirts and polos for meals and in the evenings. Some guests
actually "dress up" (dress for women and long pants for guys) for dinner
although it's not required. Long pants are required in the Italian restaurant,
Martino's.
The quietest and best rooms we think are the rooms closest
to the beach.

There are lots of sights to enjoy in addition to the
beaches and beautiful Caribbean sea. Free golf is available next door at
SuperClubs' own golf club . Escorted tours can be arranged at the resort. You
can choose to visit Montego Bay for a day of shopping, Mandeville for a trip to
the mountains, raft the nearby, local rivers with a guide or visit Dunn's River
Falls near Ocho Rios. Shopping at the craft markets in both Ocho Rios and
Montego Bay is fun but be prepared to bargain and listen to endless pleading
"Missy, stop in my shop, buy something pretty to take home,
Missy!"
With thanks to Caribbean Travel & Life:
Virtually next door to Breezes Montego Bay is Doctor's Cave Bathing Club,
home to a great restaurant called the Groovy Grouper, for drinks and grub. Look
out for Lennox Lewis or reggae star Beenie Man. There's a $5 door charge,
subject to change without notice. Friday night features an all-you-can-eat
seafood beach buffet. A neat feature: Pick your own fish from ice-filled canoes
and have it your way: Fried, steamed or broiled. Hang around for the Full Moon
Frolic
.ask at the bar for an invitation.

With Hedonism # 3 close by, plan to visit for free on
a reciprocal basis. Taxi cost is extra or you can walk about 10-15 minutes to
reach the resort.

Marriage ceremonies are free to guests. There is
usually a charge by the parish to file your paperwork, though. Figure $150 or
so. Jamaican residency requirements must be met--legally, 48 hours of residency
(subject to change). Plan ahead and send all your marriage documents ahead of
your trip for filing at the local parish court house, so you can get married on
Jamaica and avoid the paperwork hassle. Otherwise, be prepared for a 3 or 4 day
wait for everything to be processed if you don't send in your documents and
application ahead of time.
A marriage coordinator is assigned for each
couple getting married, so you have a contact on site to help make all the
arrangements, including the minister and witnesses, if necessary. Receptions
for weddings and vows renewals are free and a very nice touch. NOTE: Terms,
residency conditions, costs and features described above are subject to change
without notice and are not guaranteed.

SuperClubs has recently installed a Sunshine
guarantee. The guarantee says basically you can get a free day for every day of
your vacation that the sun fails to shine. |

With Grand Lido Braco (formerly Braco Village) so
close, split your time on the island and stay at both resorts. |

|
|
|
 |
While somewhat similar to Hedonism, the crowds aren't
quite as "party hearty" so it's an easy and fun way to experience sports, fun
and sun without the in-your-face energy at Hedonism. |

North beach of Jamaica can be windy at times. |
| |
|
|

Most rooms are plainly built but clean and tropically
decorated. Lots of closet space and big baths. |
|
|

Fall, winter and early spring can be less humid than late
spring and summer. Late spring through summer can be more humid, with daily
rain showers the norm. Of course, late August through early October can be
unstable weather with a hurricane or two skimming around the Caribbean. Prices
are generally higher from October 15 to April 15, with Christmas and holidays
rates higher than any time during the year. Rain can occur at any time so be
prepared.

Wish they would have kept the nude beach after the latest
remodel job, but SuperClubs preferred all Breezes properties include similar
amenities. |
