Caliente Resort-Tampa Perhaps the ultimate
recommendation is that we've already booked for September. Maybe see you there.
Bottom line: If you're looking for a four-star vacation in the nude
especially if it is your first experience with a "clothing-optional" lifestyle
in the good old USA, Caliente Resort-Tampa is worth experiencing. There is
nothing better than feeling the sun and air all over your glorious body without
a wet, clingy swimsuit.
*******************************************
We did, in fact, revisit Caliente Tampa the week before Memorial Day
and found a few things changed.
We did learn that the area around Land
O Lakes, Florida, which is really where Caliente is located, is the center of
nudism in Florida. There are over a dozen clothing optional, gated communities
nearby as well as two landed nudist clubs and another resort nearby.
A
change for the better was the availability of large, fluffy pool or gym towels.
You have to sign out and return them on the same day but this is superior to
the cheesy little towels that were freely given out previously.
Once
again the staff was very accommodating and the grounds impeccable. The poolside
waitresses were efficient and friendly. The quality and prices of drinks and
food at poolside were very good. There is a new food and beverage director and
the menu in the main restaurant was much better.
The king-size bed was
very comfortable and maid service was excellent. We put wine and cheese and
juice in the ??fridge and had muffins heated in the microwave and brewed coffee
for breakfast while sitting on the screened in balcony.
From Monday
through Thursday things were pretty quiet. If you are looking to relax there is
nothing more peaceful than sitting nude under a palm tree by the pool reading a
good book and sipping your favorite drink. Because there were so few guests and
in an attempt to control costs poolside service was cut back at the beginning
of the week.
Members and residents told us that the holiday weekends
are wild with 2,500 -?? 3,000 people around the grounds. On Thursday night the
Memorial Day Weekend kicked off with a free show by two of the employees who
did a better than good impression of Barbra Streisand and Donna Summer for a
couple of hours. Then the DeeJay took over for dancing.
Again, you'll
see some of the most revealing outfits imaginable in the night club.
Unfortunately most of them are worn by overweight and/or post menopausal women
accompanied by guys who look like lounge lizards.
There are, to be
sure, some beautiful people in clubwear and you may even catch a glimpse here
and there of couples as naked as the day they were born grinding it out to the
beat.
The previous observation regarding personal grooming vis-a-vis
pubic hair still applies as does the attire in the fitness center and lessons.
Karate black belt Larry is still giving free self defense classes and there are
plenty of yoga, pilates, water aerobics etc. sessions.
Out two
favorite LMTs had moved on to a resort in California but we both a wonderful
massages with Elisha who has been there for several years. The spa is
immaculate.
Either the ownership or management of the resort had
changed late last year according to various guests, members and staff. We could
never determine for sure which it was. Some said that Caliente had become more
tolerant of the lifestyles, gays and lesbians and public displays of affection.
Honestly, we didn't notice that much difference from our visit last fall. This
ain't a Club Hedonism or Desires.
Others said that in an attempt to
attract a younger, freer-spending clientele the atmosphere was more clothing
optional than before. Again, nudity is acceptable anywhere on the grounds and
required in the pool area. In fact, there seemed to be more complete nudity in
the lobby and bar area.
Another noticeable change was the construction
of an RV campsite on the land between Caliente Blvd. and the front boundary
wall of the resort. Even though the wall is ten feet high the elevation of the
main door and walkway provides visibility to both sides. In addition, the model
mobile homes in the development have windows overlooking the wall.
We
were told that this is to be a nudist campground. However, there is apparently
bad blood between the developer of the site and ownership of Caliente Resort
because there is a large sign posted on the resort side of the front wall that
members of the campground will be denied membership and access to the resort.
Business-wise this makes sense as Caliente has "casitas" (basically double-wide
fixed mobile homes) and RV lots available for sale or rent on the grounds. So,
if a different developer is selling campsites and RV sites cheaper and members
can buy an annual membership to the resort, it goes against Caliente's business
interests. The risk, of course, is if the developer of the campgrounds can't
make it go as a nudist operation they can always change their business plan and
Caliente will have a textile campground as a next door neighbor. Time will tell
how this plays out.
Bottom line: If you're looking for a four-star
vacation in the nude especially if it is your first experience with a
"clothing-optional" lifestyle in the good old USA, Caliente Resort-Tampa is
worth experiencing. There is nothing better than feeling the sun and air all
over your glorious body without a wet, clingy swimsuit.
Perhaps the
ultimate recommendation is that we've already booked for September. Maybe see
you there. D & D |

If you are going to Caliente to see Playboy
Playmates and Chippendale dancers, forget about it. What you will see is plenty
of cellulite and corpulance around the resort. To be sure, there are some hot
babes and hunky guys but they are in the minority. (On Sunday a tall, willowly
blonde who may have been a Vicky Secret model was sighted.) Also, Caliente is
definetely not a sex club. The couple who checked in after us was asked to
leave when they became too amorous in the main pool which was almost empty at
the time. That being said, Caliente is definitely a resort we will experience
again. It is not uptight and there was plenty of hugs and kisses between
couples in the pools and hot tubs especially after dark.
The motel
rooms are quite nice, the grounds immaculate and the staff polite and
attentive. We had two full-body massages in the spa by Donna and Michael and
they were wonderful.
Though billed as "clothing optional" you must be
nude to use one of the pools or hot tubs. For all intents then, this is a
nudist resort and a great place to bring someone for a first time nude
experience. You can go anywhere on the grounds completely nude all the time if
you wish. Closed toed shoes are required in the fitness center. In most of the
classes (yoga, aerobics, karate, etc.) everyone wears shorts, tee shirt or
sports bra.
In addition to guests at the resort Caliente sells
memberships to area nudists. Residents, of course, can use the facilities.
On weekends there are 2 and sometimes 3 bands playing and you'll see
some of the wildest outfits imaginable on and around the dance floor.
Something else you'll notice is that 65-70% of the gals have no pubic hair and
another 5-10% have a landing strip or small patch. Guys are 60-65% smoothie and
most others at least trim their pubic patch.
Food at the grill and
poolside was good and reasonably priced. We didn't try the main restaurant
because it was a bit pricey and there wasn't too many menu items that appealed
to us. There are several great restaurants near the resort. Rooms have a small
fridge and microwave so you can bring beverages and snacks into your room but
not down to the pools where ice water is available for free.
Bottom
line: we're going back in the spring. Maybe see you there. |

not enough nudity at resort -- felt out of
place in the evening when everyone dressed. also poor access to pool area from
room - had to walk thru parking lot and up driveway (no sidewalk) thru big
lobby to get to pool - couldn't easily pop back to room if you forgot
something. Other than that, Caliente is first class with lots of outdoor
showers and restrooms and places to eat |

This was our first experience with Nudity.
The resort facilities are beautiful. I personally like the "country club" feel
of the establishment. We made spa appointments and went on a day visit. We
intend to return and stay overnight. This trip only included our experiences in
one full day. We ate dinner at the resort - very good. We enjoyed the karaoke
at the night club. We also enjoyed the pools both day and night. It was a
fabulous atmosphere. It was not crowded even the day of the AANR Convention -
which happened to coincide with our visit.
My favoarite part - as a
"newbie" was showering in the warm sunshine in the outdoor showers with my
husband. He loved the water-fall and the gorgeous pool. The Spa was fabulous.
The indoor facilities and locker room are very clean. Everything looked new and
very "tasteful". I would recommend this for every "first" experience - it will
definitely leave a positive taste in your mouth - and a desire for mor! e
nudist activity.
All Ages ARE at this resort. We're late 30's/early
40's so - we felt very comfortable. |

My wife and I visited Caliente for a few
nights in mid-May, and I have to say that it was definitely better than I
imagined! The staff and people there were so nice and helpful... it was a truly
enjoyable experience. The grounds and buildings were immaculate and well taken
care of. The pools and hot tubs were sparkling clean and not that crowded
either. There are 5 pools and 2 hot tubs and a waterfall that is lit up at
nite. I could go on and on, but suffice to say, that if you are looking for an
upscale (but not stuffy) resort, Caliente is the ONE! |
