Caribe Resort is available for large events with a minimum of SIXTY (60) rooms. No individual reservations are being accepted at this time.

Please see and visit Caliente Tampa.

The resort itself has been in operation since the mid 1990s. In April 2005, the principals of Caliente Resort near Tampa, FL, purchased the assets of Eden Bay and launched an investment and improvement program that upgraded the property to a full service adults only, clothing optional resort…. although guests do choose to wear clothing of some sort and occasionally dress for dinner or entertainment. You will see a mix of clothed and unclothed at the resort….day or night.

Grand Bay, about 1.3 hours due east of Puerto Plata. The property caters to adult couples and singles. With 126 rooms, suites and ocean front villas plus a beautiful private 3 bedroom villa for rent located on 100+ acres , the property is all inclusive. Allinclusive means your airport transfers, accommodations, all meals, bar drinks, entertainment, snacks, hotel taxes, tips and service charges are included in one package price. Airfare is extra.

We've visited the resort previously and thought it was fun even then . But, with the carefully planned improvements and a significant amount of financial commitment on the part of the owners, Caliente Caribe has re-established itself as a welcome adults only, clothing optional destination in the Dominican Republic (DR).

The DR, a democratic republic, is a young country with a median age of 25 years and a population of about 10 million. Almost 60,000 hotel rooms are located throughout the country, forming the nucleus of the top industry there: Tourism.

America and Europe. The largest city near the resort, Puerto Plata, is located on the northern coast of the DR. Most guests fly into Puerto Plata.

From Miami, daily flights are approximately 2 hours.

Major European connections and charter flights are also available via Punta Cana, by plane about an hour due east of Puerto Plata's airport.

TIP: Don't try driving from Punta Cana to the resort as the trip is long and tiring. Another TIP: Don't underestimate the size of the DR. The Dominican Republic is a large country....maybe 5 or 6 times the size of Jamaica. If you're used to visiting other Caribbean islands, you lose your sense of scale in the DR since it's on the second largest island in the Caribbean with over 800 miles of coastline. Its highest mountain, Pico Duarte, is almost 10,000 feet high.

Santo Domingo, across the island on the south shore of the DR, is also the other major airport that services the DR from international locations. If you fly into either of the other two major airports, be prepared for a very long ride by auto or choose a charter to reach the Puerto Plata area. If possible, just fly into Puerto Plata or Santiago....it's much simpler, unless you want to extend your stay to see the island's other tourism destinations.

From the Puerto Plata International Airport, Eden Bay is about 1 hour 15 minutes due east by car and a couple of miles west of Cabrera. The highway is a major connector to the countryside and is not in the best of repair.

Airport transfers are included in your room package although rental cars are available at the airports.

For airport transfers from Puerto Plata to the resort: Upon arrival at the airport, once you clear customs and immigration and claim your luggage, exit the terminal. At the exit from Customs at the curb is the taxi and hotel shuttle area. A Caliente Caribe representative will be dispatched to greet you with a sign with Caliente or your name on it. You must provide Castaways with your flight itinerary and arrival time/departure times, airline and flight number to qualify for the airport transfers.

From Puerto Plata, going east, you pass through Sosua, one of the most popular tourism spots on the north shore of the DR. Major resorts, golf courses, casinos, beaching and night life abound in and around Sosua.

Meals are served in the main building in the Porch Restaurant. Dining is classic Caribbean with a flavorful tip of the hat to the wonderful spices of the Dominican Republic. Menus run from fresh fish, beef and chicken to catch of the day to special dishes created by the resorts talented local chef.

Our favorite place, though, is at the big thatched roof palapa (Oasis Bar) located down in the coconut grove near the beach. With a limited menu, it's still the coolest place on the property for a cold one or a cocktail at sunset. Light meals, drinks and buffets may be served beachside in the palapa with adequate occupancy level.

Beer, wine and liquor drinks are included in the room rate including tips and taxes. Premium wines and liquors are an available for an additional charge.

Relaxed and laid back are two phrases that best describe the feeling. Service is attentive without being too obtrusive.

With several different spots on the property to hang your hat, you won't have to fight for a seat anywhere. The main building houses reception, dining, disco, administration, the boutique and out back is the main pool and swim up bar. Nearby are the two hotel buildings and to the west of the main building, more cottages are located on a bluff overlooking the cove and coconut grove, with more cottages dotted among the palm trees. Hey, if you can't relax there, you're out of luck.

On the lower level in the coconut grove, you will find another swimming pool, seaside hot tub and a big thatched-roof palapa (The Oasis Beach Bar) where day time dining and drinks are served. There's usually a Continental breakfast served plus a beach side lunch, grill or buffet is available. Typically, that is the primary site for lunch daily. The small beach is located near the Oasis palapa.

Collette's: The hillside villa has been been converted to a party palace for adults called Collette's. Colette Club is great for a private party or reception location for groups or resort takeovers. Size is about 4,000 square feet in the main club featuring tall ceilings, leather sofas in black and white colors plus separate lounge beds. A full service bar, beautiful chandelier in the disco, Bose Sound system, spacious outdoor terrace plus several adjoining rooms round out the features. Outside there's a small heated conversation pool for folks to have a great time and get to know each other.

The small beach is located near the Oasis palapa.

safaris, visits to Sosua markets and casinos and optional visits to the mangroves, the Blue Grotto and day tours to Santiago, Puerto Plata, Santo Domingo and Samana.

Beginning late December through March, the Atlantic Ocean's largest population of majestic humpback whales, an estimated 2,000 to 5,000 males and females, will make their annual pilgrimage to the protected waters of the Dominican Republic.

The Dominican peso (RD$) is the official monetary unit. Only pesos are accepted as legal tender. Money may be changed at the front desk

The Dominican Republic is the most varied of all the Caribbean with huge bays that attract humpback whales during the winter mating season and the region's highest and lowest points of any of the islands. Iguana Mama, the best of the adventure outfitters, offers caving, hiking, biking, canyoning, and eco-tours.

The tropical ambiance of the place is astounding. You would think you're in Tahiti or somewhere in the south Pacific as you stand in the middle of the coconut grove down by the beach.

World class resorts are scattered along the north coast between Puerto Plata and Caliente Caribe so you're relatively close to lots of other sight seeing opportunities, gambling, golfing, entertainment and shopping.

The employees are what make the place so special. Minimum wages for the employees are small but their hearts are big. Although tips are included in the room rate, it's nice to leave something extra which can be shared with all the employees. If you're unsure, ask the manager on duty how to leave something behind.

The beach itself is fairly small but adequate to enter the water. Although the beach is essentially man-made, most folks seem to choose the swimming pools and hot tubs for their water sports. If you use the beach water, take along a pair of aqua shoes or plan to flip flop out with your fins to do some snorkeling. Parts of the entrance to the salt water can be rocky or abundant with coral. Just remember, coral was there first so be respectful....it's a living organism.

Caliente Caribe is about an hour from most major towns like Sosua or Puerto Plata but with a car, you can set yourself up for some exploring on your own.

During winter months, the swimming pools are heated.

The Dominican Republic is a year-round destination. Late summer and early fall can be prone to hurricanes in the Caribbean. Expect rain sometime, somewhere every day. You're in the tropics so expect some moisture unexpectedly

Wish more folks would visit there. It's a great place to relax.
