"Casa at
Last" Placencia, Belize |

Here are guest reports from Casa at
Last |
| December 2009 - Aggie |
Casa
at Last is the perfect place to de-stress and unwind. If you are looking for
wild parties or nightlife, this is not the place for you. Cat is a gracious
hostess who will do her best to arrange off-site tours, fix your meals (with
prior notice), and call a taxi for you. There is a dinner bell conveniently
located by the pool to summon her if you have needs or a question.
Accommodations are clean with extra towels and bedding provided. However, it me
took several days to figure out there is no daily service. If you need clean
towels or sheets, you leave your dirty ones on the rail outside your casita.
Same with your trash (but don't leave it overnight unless you want a cat fight
outside your room). It was a bit inconvenient to have to keep asking for more
toilet paper. Since there is no bar service at the pool bar, it is best to
bring your own liquor or buy it in town. There is a refrigerator and ice at the
pool. The pool is not heated so it gets a bit nippy.
I took two
off-site trips, one to Monkey River (pretty good) and one to go cave-tubing.
Unfortunately, the river was flooded and the caves closed. At least I got to
see some of the inland scenary. The beach across from Casa at Last is not very
wide, and the water has a lot of sea grass. OK for a stroll but not so much for
swimming. Overall, this was a great place to bring my blood pressure down, work
on an all-over tan, and read a couple of good books. Not much excitement, but
sometimes that's the kind of vacation you need! |
