Negril, opened a few years ago, is located on 18 acres with garden view and
ocean view rooms plus luxury one-bedroom suites. A modest nude beach area is a
nice, subdued addition to the beautiful beach area.

 This
resort is an adults only, couples only all inclusive upscale resort that
compares favorably with its next door neighbor, Grand Lido. Couples is
independently owned and operated by another part of the Issa family from
Jamaica but is not a part of the SuperClubs operation (owned by the John Issa
family)..
All public areas and private rooms are surprisingly and uniquely
decorated in contemporary, offbeat tropical colors and textures. Beach front
luxury suites are some of the largest we've ever seen in Jamaican properties.
The predominate colors are in the tropical green, yellow and reds families.
Located next door to Grand Lido Negril, Couples Negril shares the same
beautiful, wide expanse of near-white sand beach at Bloody Bay.
The
resort rooms are in several, separate three story building units in garden and
beach view settings with lots of space, ponds and facilities spread throughout
the grounds, providing an open, relaxed atmosphere where you don't have to walk
far to reach your destination. The main activity building for restaurants,
reception, spa, gymnasium, buffets and lounges, is located in the center of the
property and very well placed.
 All 216 rooms have king size beds, air
conditioning and ceiling fans, satellite TV, CD player, direct dial telephone,
hairdryer, bath and shower, balcony or patio overlooking the Caribbean or
beautiful gardens/ponds. There are lots of wicker, tropical decorations and
plenty of sunlight, giving each room a bright, airy feel. Electricity is 110,
same as in the states and the water is pure to drink but bring your curling
irons and leave your bottled water at home.

Couples is about 4 miles east of Negril village and
is virtually across the street from the Negril airstrip, really convenient for
using the air taxi shuttles between there and Montego Bay, about 55 miles east
or 15 minutes by air charter.
Air charter service can also be arranged
for trips to Ocho Rios, Port Antonio, Kingston or other part or Jamaica, a
great way to see the island for a day tour quickly. Complimentary transfer
shuttle service from Montego Bay is provided by the resort. The bus ride takes
1.5-2 hours each way.
Many of our clients choose to take the air
charter service between Montego Bay and Negril. Lots of folks elect to bus it
over to the resort to make friends on the shuttle while flying back on the
return trip. Cost per person ranges from $40-$60 each way. You may buy a
one-way ticket either direction or a round trip...it's your choice.
Note: The return bus trip to the Montego Bay airport usually is
scheduled to depart the resort 3.5 to 4 hours BEFORE the time
of your flight. If you take the air charter, you can cut your time in
half.

Room rates include accommodations, all meals, bar drinks,
round trip, air conditioned airport shuttle transfers, entertainment, water
sports, spa, entertainment, tennis and free golf (including free green fees and
shuttle transfers to the golf course), all for one inclusive price. Only your
airfare is extra.
Amenities are numerous and are similar to other 5 star
resorts in the Caribbean, with a couple of nice wrinkles thrown in like
breakfast in bed for you both.
Amenities include:

- Conventional, clothed beach plus a clothing-optional
area for sunbathing with self-service bar
- Four tennis courts, two lighted for night play
- Air conditioned fitness center with free-weights,
treadmills, Cybex bikes, Stairmaster and other similar equipment
- Indoor game rooms with ping pong, backgammon, billiards
and Satellite television
- Spa services and beauty salon on an optional basis
- Gift shop, boutique and newsstand
Off site adventures include free shuttle to Rick's Cafe,
shopping transfers to Negril and a catamaran sunset cruise with drinks.
Numerous sight seeing and tourism trips can be arranged as vacation options
directly at the resort on a daily basis.
NOTE: Please take care of your
valuables, cash, airline tickets and passports while on vacation. Some vacation
destinations are considered "third world" countries and experience petty theft.
Recommendation: Do not take precious jewelry unless you wear it all times; keep
your cash, valuables, watches, travel documentation and cameras with you and
don't expect your in-room safe to be "safe." Just a word of caution to make
sure you remember to practice common sense with your valuables while you're on
vacation.

We really like the buffet and entertainment concept at
Couples. The seating area in the main restaurant is located near the pool for
easy access and at night, there is a stage adjacent to the dining areas, great
for music, dancing and entertainment. While there is no separate disco, this
area serves as the best place for dancing at night.
Here are your
choices for dining:
Island fare, Italian and Continental cuisine plus
fine wines are served in Otaheite, the Pasta Bar and Cassava Terrace.
 The main restaurant also offers
breakfast, lunch and certain dinners The Beach Grill offers you a casual dining
atmosphere for meals in your bathing suit.
There are five bars,
including a swim up bar plus an elegant piano bar, all serving premium brands
plus a self-service on the clothing-optional beach.
Other nice touches
that you can enjoy include 24-hour dining from room service with a great
menu,and continental breakfast in bed to wake up the right way without having
to dress for the morning meal.

Room categories are garden view, ocean view, ocean front
and one bedroom luxury suites (beach front). Rates start at
$150-$300+/person/night, and vary by room category selected. Room rates vary
seasonally and can be less expensive when to buy a "package" which combines
special wholesale airfare with wholesale resort rates, departure taxes, service
charges and transfers, all in one prepaid price. Seasonal specials are offered
annually on sale and may offer lower rates but full payment is expected in
advance. Note: Room rates, terms and conditions shown above are subject to

Most guests are 30s to 50s with most in the middle. Tends
to be a fairly younger, upscale crowd so far. Not too many 20s and not many
seniors but seems to be a fun mix of all ages.

You can't help but get tropical fever when you first walk
in at Couples Negril. The spacious, tropical lobby feels like an upscale,
sophisticated Fantasy Island upon arrival plus the decor and textures are
beautifully  done...blending a
contemporary flair with traditional fabrics and colors. Off the main lobby are
shops, boutiques and resort offices.
 Located in the main building on the
first floor are restaurants, spa, gym and buffet areas. The spa is in a
separate building and nicely appointed. The nude sunbathing area is located on
the west side of the beach next to Grand Lido Negril. The nude area is small in
size but it does have its own hot tub. "

There are few local sights to enjoy other than the beaches,
sparkling Caribbean sea and beautiful coral cliffs. The locals are fun to kid
with but be ready to bargain if you find that certain something that catches
your eye. A local craft market is across the street from the resort, so you
won't have far to go to spend your money.
Escorted tours can be
arranged at the resort and there are a couple of small native craft markets
there, one near the resort. You can also choose to visit Montego Bay for a day
of shopping, Mandeville for a trip to the mountains, raft the rivers or visit
Dunn's River Falls near Ocho Rios. A trip from Negril to Ocho Rios (through
Montego Bay) is a hike, requiring at least 3-4 hours, one way. An overrated
trip to Rick's Cafe on the cliffs in Negril for a beer at sunset is always a
common "in thing" to do.
 Or better yet have the resort arrange transportation for you
to the "undiscovered" YS Falls. Its about an hour and a half away, along the
mostly deserted, but beautiful, South Coast of the island. Often you can have
the entire falls to yourself and "do what you want to do" when you get there.
Wind surfing, sailing, canoeing, tennis, water tricycles, beach
volleyball, water aerobics, snorkeling, yoga and free golf (including green
fees and transfers), water skiing, SCUBA for certificated divers and resort
course diving for others who obtain a Diving Medical Certificate which can be
arranged at the resort for a modest fee. While golf is included, carts and
caddies are typically required on the golf course for an extra fee.

sunbathing so don't visit expecting a complete area for socializing or fun and
games. |

Some folks may think a disco is desirable but the
stage and entertainment area serves the needs just fine. Don't go to this
resort if you like loud music. Couples is more laid back, ala Grand Lido next
door. |

Avoid the rooms on the main road side of the beach.
The main road into town curves near the resort and lots of loud cars and trucks
can be heard from those room. |

The spa, gym and work out areas are some of the best
we've seen on the island and rivals the Grand Lido product. |

Fall, winter and early spring can be less humid than late
spring and summer. Late spring through the summer can be more humid, with daily
rain showers the norm. Of course, late August through early October can be
unstable weather with a hurricane or two skimming around the Caribbean. Prices
are generally higher from October 15 to April 15, with Christmas holidays rates
higher than any time during the year.

Wish the nude beach area was larger but it's a function of
the degree of usage by clients. Few clients actually use the nude facilities so
if you want just little peace and quiet where you can enjoy an all over than,
Couples Negril nude beach should fit your needs.
