The resort is contemporary but usually quiet and
refined while tending to cater to the upscale client who enjoys a higher level
of service, dining and vacation options. Nude be ach, pool and hot tub areas
attract most of the laughter. Disco, huge VCR tape collection and fine dining
are nice touches, although the night life can very subdued.
Finer
evening wear is recommended for dinner, although ties are not necessary. Long
pants and polos for the guys; skirts or long pants and blouses for the girls at
night. Guys, take a jacket for dining at Piacere.

There are few sights to see nearby. The locals are
fun to kid with and be ready to bargain if you find that certain something that
catches your eye. Many escorted tours can be arranged a the resort. There are a
couple of small native craft markets there, one across the street from the
resort.
Since you are on the far West coast of Jamaica, you might want
to forget going to Montego Bay or Ocho Rios. Why not try Rick's cafe to watch
some cliff diving and catch the sunset. Or better yet have the resort arrange
transportation for you to the "undiscovered" YS Falls. Its about an hour and a
half away, along the mostly deserted, but beautiful, South Coast of the island.
Often you can have the entire falls to yourself and "do what you want to do"
when you get there.

We think being met at the door with fine champagne
and led to a private area for check in are nice touches. The resort is perfect
for those upscale travelers who just want to get away from it all to relax and
be pampered in a refined atmosphere. |

Fall, winter and early spring can be less humid than late
spring and summer. Late spring through summer can be more humid, with daily
rain showers the norm. Of course, late August through early October can be
unstable weather with a hurricane or two skimming around the Caribbean. Prices
are generally higher from December 15 to April 15, with Christmas holidays
rates higher than any time during the year.

Resort has it all except an energetic night life for those
that want it. Some guests visit Hedonism next door for evening energy at the
disco or fun and games during the day. There is usually a charge to
visit.
We also wish that they would change their brochure a bit. While
certainly the resort is beautiful and it is nice to ocassionaly dress for
dinner, Grand Lido, Negil is NOT near as "stuffy" as the brochure might
suggest.
