Negril - Jamaica

Here are a few trip reports submitted by some of our clients.

2008 - A.S.
The service from the minute we arrived at the airport super clubs desk to the departure was excellent. The resort was everything promised and more. We loved the activities and the food was superb. Our only complaint was that we did not stay long enough to take advantage of the optional excursions. Thanks for a wonderful, relaxing stay. A S

Thank you for recommending Grand Lido Negril for our first Clothing Optional experience. It took us about five minutes to become quite comfortable and satisfied with the entire resort. The people we met in clothing optional pool, beach and commons areas were friendly, but not too friendly. There was a steady rotation of new faces every day, with the average stay about five days.

We had requested "up scale" and Grand Lido Negril certainly is. The food was always great and sometimes diner was "extraordinary". Most mornings one of us walked down for the continental breakfast at the Au Natural pool and brought the other a plate back to the room. Daily Lamb chops at the pool for lunch was a nice touch. By the end of our stay… we actually ordered cheeseburgers instead.

The newly renovated rooms were very nice, but a little dark and not quite five star. The view was great.

Clearly the prude pool and beach are better facilities. It is in this area that all water sports begin.

The disco was mostly empty, simply due to the poor dance facilities… whereby three pillars split the floor into small sections. However, we did get our fill of dancing in the early evenings on the main show floor, in front of the nightly live entertainment.

The whole concept of "all inclusive" was handled incredibly well. Our bill at checkout was less than $15 for three telephone calls back to the USA. That's it! Any time we wanted… anything… the staff was ready to accommodate. Water Skiing, Kayak, Lamb Chops, Drinks, Laundry… etc. It just didn't matter what we asked for… the staff was ready to serve.

We ended our trip with a cruise. With the exception of visiting a different port every day… the "all inclusive" resort is incredibly better than a cruise (plus drinks). I see less cruises in our future.

We will be a repeat customer of Castaways Travel... and Grand Lido.

January 1998 - Wayne & Ann
Our January trip to Grand Lido Negril was our 7th. People keep asking us why we keep going back and the reason are simple. We just haven't found any place else we would rather be. We also like Grand Lido Braco, but we still prefer Grand Lido Negril.

There were some things that were starting to bother us about GL, but it was great to get there this year and find all of those things fixed. They have completely redone the buffet area in the Terazzo so they can offer a better selection of food and keep it hotter or colder as the need may be. Also they have completely redone the bar at the C/O pool, hot tub area, and added some snacks out there too. This was much needed.

We were also happy to see that they had completely redone the room we were in. New tile on the floor, new AC, new paint, etc. The room really looked good. We always try to stay in a ground floor room on the C/O side. From the ground floor rooms you can walk directly out of your room onto the beach, and the view out of your room on the C/O side, is one of the most beautiful you can find anywhere.

The food was back up to the previous GL standards on this trip and we also noticed that they "unofficially" had relaxed the slacks only rule for the Cafe Lido. We saw lots of men in shorts there, and they have also added more tables outside if you prefer to eat there. The Piacere was the best ever, so we went there a few extra times this year.

Even though the resturants are great, we still enjoy to sit in the buff on our patio, or in the hot tub, and order us up a few orders of lamb chops from room service. We have been known to do this for several days in a row as there is never a need to get dressed that way!!! <G>

The entertainment was a bit sedate (as usual) as was the disco. (as usual, except on PJ night) So we headed over to Hedo (as usual) for Toga & pajama nights. We also go over to Hedo to take the nude catamaran trip out of there.

On this trip Wayne only went scuba diving once, which is rare for him, he just chose to relax more this year.

We look forward to getting back to GL soon, but not sure when as of yet... maybe the summer of 99.

We were looking for something tropical and romantic to help us celebrate our ten year anniversary. We also wanted to stay where they had a clothing optional beach. Grand Lido was all we had wanted and more. Tthe beaches and water are beautiful! the resort is definatly 5 star. And the people of grand lido that serve you while you are there are geat! My husband and I spent 90% of our time on the nude beach. Each time you walked up to the bar that was at the nude pool, he new exactly what we were drinking and had it ready in an instant. And they are so friendly!! When we had originally planned our trip... we were going to do it all, snorkle, scuba, windsail, horseback, etc... but we were so relaxed and felt so comfortable on the beach, we just vegitated for a whole week. It was great!! I would highly recommend this place! and cant wait to visit it again... maybe for our 15th anniversary thats just around the corner!
