 Runaway Bay - Jamaica |
| If you're
looking for a fun, upscale resort with more creature comforts, a Jacuzzi in
every bathroom, four restaurants, three swimming pools (one nude), two beaches
(one nude) and a nude swim-up bar that's open until 5 AM, this may be the place
for you. Hedo # 3 is not for the weak of heart, since you can find something to
do just about 24 hours a day. |
|
| |
U.S. Citizens: Passports are
required for international air travel to all destinations outside the
USA.
Hedonism's package is all inclusive which means all
your basics are provided for in one price including the bus shuttle from the
airport, room accommodations, all meals, bar drinks, premium liquors,
entertainment, water sports, hotel taxes and gratuities.
|
 |
| |
Hedonism # 3 is located about a mile east of its
sister property, Breezes Runaway Bay, both about 20-25 minutes west of Ocho
Rios, Jamaica and a little over an hour east of Montego Bay, the closest
international airport.
From Montego Bay's airport heading east toward
Ocho Rios, the shuttle bus ride takes about 1-1.5 hours along a scenic part of
Jamaica's north coast---windier but somewhat drier than Negril or Montego Bay.
The new road being constructed between Montego Bay and Ocho Rios causes
bottlenecks and slows traffic somewhat.
Take your pick of flights that
service Jamaica
.but plan to fly into MONTEGO BAY as your final
destination since it's the closest international airport to Braco. Kingston is
several hours away over mountainous roads.
Options: Charter airlines
worldwide, American Airlines, Continental, Northwest, U.S. Airways, Delta,
British Airways, Condor and many others service the island, too. The most
charters originate in Europe from the UK, Italy, Germany and the Netherlands.
Air carriers are subject to change without notice.
U.S. Citizens: Passports are required for international air
travel to all destinations outside the USA.

The
resort has 225 rooms located in nine separate buildings on 18 acres of land,
actually a smaller area than Hedonism II in Negril which has 25 acres. Four
main restaurants are there in addition to the three pool's bar and grill.
Four rooming buildings (# 6-# 9) are ocean front facing west very near
or directly on the nude pool and beach area. The 6 & 7 Buildings are known
as Ocean front au natural rooms. The 8 & 9 Buildings are known as Ocean
front Rooms. Those buildings contain ocean front rooms and ocean front suite
classifications served by its own nude pool, grill and swim up bar and beach. A
fifth building (# 5) are known as the Garden View au natural rooms adjacent to,
but behind the first four near the nude beach. Each of the nine building units
has 8 suites.
The
remaining four buildings (# 1-# 4...the "quad") are built around a large square
swimming pool with swim up bar. Rooms there are pool front, pool view and
suites classifications. First floor rooms are called pool front and are described as
"swim up" rooms which means only a sidewalk separates your room from the edge
of the pool. All of the pool view/pool front rooms are in the "quadrangle"
(quad) made up of the four building units surrounding one of the three pools
with swim up bar/grill etc.
Each standard room has a king or two beds, a
Jacuzzi tub (two can fit--barely) and shower, air conditioning, satellite TV
with separate sitting area , CD player and radio, phone, iron and board,
closet, cabinet storage and coffee service. Electricity is 110 like in the
states.
Another plus... mirrors in lots of extra places!
Space
has been set aside for 75 more additional ocean front rooms adjacent to the
main buildings and pool area.
Games, sports and activity areas include a disco, piano
bar, work out facility, health spa and cocktail lounge. Sports will also
include tennis, SCUBA, snorkeling, basketball, pool, table tennis and the life
sized chess board. Water skiing, sailing with Sunfish or Hobie Cats and related
water craft are included in the marina area. Near the pool view buildings are
two lighted tennis courts.
Other features include fitness center,
basketball, kayaks, volleyball and aerobics. No tipping allowed. Golf is
available for an extra charge at the Breezes Golf Course.
The STAFF is
great
.If you've visited other SuperClubs resorts, you will see some
familiar faces. The activities and entertainment staff really go out of their
way to keep things going so, even if you travel alone, new friends
won't be far or hard to
meet. Make sure you say hello to the staff, bar tenders and waiters, get to
know them, introduce yourself and call THEM by name....a little hospitality
goes a long way with those that serve.
Marriage ceremonies are free to
guests with a 2-day minimum residency requirement. TIP: Send your documents to
the resort early before you arrive so the paperwork can be done beforehand.
There is a $150 administrative charge by the local parish to register your
marriage certificate. Cost subject to change without notice.

NOTE: Please take care of your valuables, cash,
airline tickets and passports while on vacation. Some vacation destinations are
considered "third world" countries and experience petty theft. Recommendation:
Do not take precious jewelry unless you wear it all times; keep your cash,
valuables, watches, travel documentation and cameras with you and don't expect
your in-room safe to be "safe." Just a word of caution to make sure you
remember to practice common sense with your valuables while you're on
vacation.

The
main building houses the Italian, Japanese and Pool Terrace buffet restaurants
while another restaurant featuring Jamaican fare is located on the point
overlooking the Caribbean and adjacent to the water sports area. The nude pool
also has a bar and grill. The Italian and Japanese restaurants require
reservations. Dress is casual throughout the resort and its restaurants.
The Japanese restaurant is Munasan, the Italian is called Pastafari
and the Jamaican cuisine restaurant is called the Reggae Café.
We found the dining and
service experience to be excellent in all respects.
You won't go
hungry since there is some type of meal service available virtually around the
clock. There is also a 24-hour "snack attack" fare available plus continental
breakfast room service, too, as well as a mid night snack service at the Pool
Terrace.
It's a real pleasure to have so many healthy salad, entrees
and desert selections at the buffet Pool Terrace restaurant plus the choices
among the other three restaurants are a treat to behold. Our personal favorite
is the Italian restaurant.'
The Japanese and Italian restaurants are
open only at night. The Jamaican grill is open for lunch and dinner, while the
Pool Terrace is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and the mid night snack.
NOTE: The Pastafari and Munasan Restaurants require reservations. Make
your reservations at the reception desk or guest services well in advance,
Don't expect to "crash" them and be admitted, no matter how many times you've
been there.
Weekly there is a Manager's party and repeat guests'
reception to Thank You for support. Typically, the client with the most visits
to Hedonism # 3 will receive some free nights on a return visit.

Room rates can vary from $150/person/night up
to over $250/person/night depending upon the season. Rates vary seasonally.
Seasonal specials and early booking discounts apply to some parts of the year.
The rooms are priced according to location.
Charter airfare packaged
with resort rooms offer the best value for an all inclusive vacation. All the
rooms are well located. Best room locations are Ocean Front and of all the nine
structures, building #6 is the best location if you want the nude pool and hot
tub to be right in front of you.
With the ocean front rooms, you will
be treated to spectacular sunsets, since buildings 6-9 face west northwest to
catch the last of the sun's rays around 6 PM daily.
If the resort owes
you money for a room classification you didn't get, MAKE SURE YOU GET A LETTER
CONFIRMING YOUR CREDIT DUE **BEFORE** YOU LEAVE THE RESORT, OR YOU MAY
**NEVER** SEE IT. We can assist you with these situations and we are
successful, but it may require months to get the refund. TIP: ALWAYS GET THE
FULL NAME AND TITLE OF THE PERSON WHO FIRST TELLS YOU THAT YOU ARE DUE A
CREDIT.
Ditto for the SUNSHINE GUARANTEE. SuperClubs says they will
present you with a voucher equivalent in value for each FULL day the sun does
NOT shine whatsoever at the resort--during rain squalls or bad weather, etc. DO
NOT LEAVE THE RESORT WITHOUT YOUR SUNSHINE GUARANTEE VOUCHER. If you try to get
it later via mail, phone, FAX, etc. you may have to try over and over and over
to get it from them---it's Jamaica and NOTHING moves fast there. DO NOT LEAVE
THE RESORT WITHOUT YOUR VOUCHER! Period! TIP: ALWAYS GET THE FULL NAME AND
TITLE OF THE PERSON WHO FIRST TELLS YOU THAT YOU ARE DUE A CREDIT.

You will see anyone from 21 to 81 there. A slightly younger
crowd seems to be attracted to Hedo # 3 in our opinion compared to Hedonism #
2.
|
|
| |
Hedonism # 3 has a feel of a bit more intimate resort with
more places on the property for mixing and meeting new friends. Even with a
full resort, guests are dispersed throughout the property, with crowding of
facilities a thing of the past (with one exception--the nude pool). Sunsets are
spectacular as more than half the rooms plus the nude beach and Jamaican grill
face west to catch the last rays of the day.
As there are coral
outcroppings on all the water front areas, two beaches have been
custom-designed---one clothed and the other the clothing-optional beach area.
Both beaches are man-made with imported sand. Neither are as large nor as
natural as others at SuperClubs resorts. In addition, a water sports marina is
at the resort with big, powerful boats and modrn equipment including Scuba gear
windsurf equipmnent and snorkel stuff. For golf, you will be transferred over
to Hedo's sister property, Breezes Runaway Bay. Golf extra charge and there is
a discount for guests from Hedo # 3. Both Hedonism # 3 and Breezes
have reciprocal visitation rights: If you're at one resort, you can visit the
other free of charge. Taxi ride is extra....takes about 5 minutes.
If you need an excuse to
have fun, try out Castaways' annual Quad Squad(tm) Summer Camp for Adults, the
last full week in June each year. Castaways takes over the quad completely for
great fun and mischief!
Three pools dot the area. The first is in
front of the main pool terrace restaurant and building area which will include
misting pools, hot tubs and the water slide through the disco. The four story
water slide and the hot tub in front of the disco are both "see through" so you
can let your imagination wander.
As there are coral outcroppings on all the water front areas,
two beaches have been custom-designed---one clothed and the other the
clothing-optional beach area. Both beaches are man-made with imported sand.
Neither are as large nor as natural as others at SuperClubs resorts. In
addition, a water sports marina is at the resort with big, powerful boats and
brand new equipment. For SCUBA and golf, you will be transferred over to Hedo's
sister property, Breezes Runaway Bay, for those activities.
The place is for adult fun
and play! There is literally something for everyone. Everywhere you turn, there
are many, many diversions to keep you busy including the workout and spa area,
a steam bath and separate sauna, games, hobbies, boxing and wrestling in fake
Sumo wrestler costumes (hilarious to watch), body painting,
water skiing, sailing
Sunfish and Hobie Cats, wind surfing, trapeze, dancing, disco, water slide,
tennis, optional golf discounted at the Breezes Resort course next door, diving
and snorkeling, piano bar, shopping, hot tubbing, swimming, eating, drinking
and romancing. Surely, you can find something to do!
Don't miss: The
water slide, the piano bar, the disco, your Jacuzzi tub in your room with your
honey, sunsets at the Jamaican bar upstairs on the point (take your camera),
the Italian restaurant and sailing....there's always some wind!
To lay the question to rest, management policy from Hedonism says
"public sex is NOT permitted." If caught breaking the rules, you can be
escorted off the property without a refund. End of story. (However, if you
visit the clothing-optional pool and bar until 5 AM, you may see some of the
rules broken)! ALERT: You may see outright public sex occur
around the nude pool and beach occasionally when large special interest groups
are there for the week.
Ask the bartenders, what a body shot is. Better
yet, let them show you. You're in for a treat.
Dress throughout the resort
is CASUAL, with beachwear the norm from thongs to shorts. Hedonism is not a
nudist resort, but most of the guests on the nude side stay that way for most
of the day. Most guys and girls wear shorts, T shirts/polos for meals. Some
actually "dress up" for dinner although it's not required. Guys do NOT need a
jacket in any of the restaurants!
Theme
Nights Sunday: International Night--anything goes for wardrobe
Monday: 70's Disco Fever Night Tuesday: Las Vegas Night/Pajama Party
Night Wednesday: Murder Mystery Night/Circus and Masquerade Night
Thursday: Toga Dance and Talent Show Friday: Reggae Night Saturday:
Battle of the Sexes
ALERT: Theme nights are subject to
change without notice. If theme nights are important to you, let us know so the
current schedule can be determined
.but please be forewarned: Themes can
change in the middle of the week.
TIPS
Get to the nude pool early if you want a seat. For
some reason, there are only about 30 chaise lounge chairs around the nude pool,
which is small, as is the hot tub.
Get to the nude beach early
if you want a seat. This man-made 100 foot beach fronts two rows of chaise
lounge chairs, about 50 in total. The sun decks should help disperse the crowd,
too.
Make reservations early if you want to dine in the
Japanese or Italian restaurant. They are closed certain nights of the week.
Take some wind surf shoes to wear on the pool terrace (avoid
slipping) and in the water so you won't get stuck by the little critters in the
shallow parts of the beach.
For theme nights, girls, take some
extra safety pins or ties to secure your costumes when you put them on instead
of having it fall down around your knees while you dance (unless you want it
to!). Hey, whatever turns you on!

There are lots of sights to enjoy in addition to the
beaches and beautiful Caribbean sea. Golf is available next door at SuperClubs'
own golf club adjacent to Breezes Runaway Bay. Hedonism guest enjoy a discount
for golf there. Escorted tours can be arranged at the resort. You can choose to
visit Montego Bay for a day of shopping, Mandeville for a trip to the
mountains, raft the nearby local rivers with a guide, race down a zip line on a
canopy tour, ride the hills on an ATV tour or visit Dunn's River Falls near
Ocho Rios. Shopping at the craft markets in both Ocho Rios and Montego Bay is
fun but be prepared to bargain.

IThe clothing-optional facilities (nude pool and nude
beach) seem to be too small to handle all the guests properly when the resort
is full and has a large mix of clothing-optional clients. If most of the guests
want a chaise lounge around the nude pool, there is space for only about 30
people at a time. The nude beach is about 100 feet wide with another 50-60 or
so chairs there, so some guests may find themselves elsewhere. With a capacity
crowd when the resort is full, lots of folks may have trouble finding a place
for their butt. |
| |
|
|
|
 |
The "quad" pool is a great clothing-optional or
topless alternative spot especially if you have a group of friends to party
with.....with a stage like that, there's bound to be exhibitionists to perform
for all the guests looking out their rooms! The quad is a fun place to stay,
even if you're not into clothing-optional vacations. |

from the Jamaican restaurant and bar. |

Fall, winter and early spring can be less humid than late
spring and summer. Late spring through the summer can be more humid, with daily
rain showers the norm. Of course, during late August through early November
weather can be unstable with storms that may be skimming around the Caribbean.
Prices are generally higher from December to April 15, with Christmas holidays
rates higher than any time during the year.
Be prepared for it to rain
a little almost every day. Standard procedure--hit the hot tub if it does rain
with drink in hand. Take an umbrella so be prepared.
|
|

Designate the "quad" pool officially clothing
optional
Enlarge the nude pool deck area and nude hot tub ....we
really believe it's under capacity for the crowd that may want to enjoy it.
