Think of the most tropical movie set for a Jamaican film
you've ever imagined and you've got Sans Souci (sands soo-see). Sans Souci
("without worry") is both romantic and sophisticated plus its a favorite with
the spa crowd. "Prepare to be spoiled..." is what Caribbean Travel and Life
magazine said about Sans Souci in one of its articles about some of the best
spa resorts in the entire Caribbean. Sans Souci is only about 5 minutes due
east of Ocho Rios and is a fabulous choice for couples, honeymooners and
newlyweds alike. All inclusive, adults only, no children.
This
award winning property with its colonial ambiance is a beautiful tropical
resort. With 146 elegant suites to choose from, this beautiful, adults only,
all inclusive property is one of the best you'll find in its class. There are
lots of stairs to negotiate... but there is a complimentary golf cart service
if you'd rather not walk up and down some of the steep stairs. The topography,
however, is what makes the place so tropical and romantic. This resort carries
a Triple AAA 4-Diamond Award rating. .

Fly into Montego Bay's Sangster Airport and hop on a
shuttle bus for the two hour ride to Ocho Rios, due east of Montego Bay, on the
north coast of Jamaica. If you fly into Kingston, the transfer time can take up
to three hours and will cost extra. There is a

commuter airport near Sans Souci at the Oracabessa
(Boscobel) air strip. The cost for an air transfer from Montego Bay to Boscobel
via air commuter is over $100/person, one way, plus the cost of a taxi to the
resort which is about 15 minutes away. NOTE: Airport transfers from Montego Bay
Only are automatically in your resort accommodations' package so allow yourself
plenty of time to make the transfer. Prices for air taxi is subject to change
without notice.
The bus may stop for a passengers' beer or pee break,
depending upon the whim of the driver or guests. The coastal road eastward from
Montego Bay takes you through the areas of Trelawny, Falmouth, Duncans, Runaway
Bay and St Ann, where you'll pass lots of roadside stands selling sea grapes,
excellent wood carvings and, of course, Red Strip beer and jerk chicken, the
island's specialty.
A few factoids about your transfer trip by bus: A
movie classic filmed years ago called "Papillon" about a Devils' Island (French
penal colony) starring Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman was filmed in the old
warehouse complex in Falmouth, which also boasts the second oldest church on
the island. Duncans is the boyhood home of Harry Belafonte, a Jamaican calypso
singer popular in the 50's and 60's in Jamaica and the USA before reggae became
established in the 1970's. In addition, several James Bond classic movies were
filmed there, including Goldfinger. You will also pass through all three towns
plus Rio Bueno, Discovery Bay, Runaway Bay and St. Ann on your trip.

Air service to Montego Bay is
provided by both scheduled air carriers and charter airlines worldwide.
Typically, charters are your best value, but the flights usually operate once
or twice a week from the USA and Europe. If you want convenience, scheduled
airlines offer the most flights, most often, to the island. The trade off for
you is price vs. convenience. The choice is yours.
.U.S. Citizens: Passports are required for international air
travel to all destinations outside the
USA.
Transportation If you wish, you may hire a
private taxi upon arrival, too. Or, take the shuttle bus already provided in
your resort package. The ride is usually two hours. Air commuter service is
available from Montego Bay to the village called Oracabessa, just east of Ocho
Rios, where the air strip is located, call Boscobel Aerodrome. See above
section.
NOTE: Make sure you arrive in Montego Bay and not Kingston, the
island's capital. The ride from Kingston will cost you money out of pocket,
since complimentary airport transfers are included only from Montego Bay.
Kingston is 3 hours away by car.

The resort has just about everything you would
want to be spoiled rotten. The all inclusive program includes your air
conditioned suite with private bath, all meals, snacks, premium bar drinks,
water sports (sailing, Scuba, snorkeling, wind surfing, kayaking, water skiing,
three swimming pools, hot tubs, etc), nightly themes, light
entertainment,
three (3) restaurants, 2 snack bars/grills, organized activities, optional
tours off site, optional spa treatments (waxing, manicures, pedicures, wraps,
etc.) at Charlie's spa, 24-hour room service, fitness center, free green frees
for golf, free tennis, hotel taxes, tips and service charges.
Spa extra:
For repeat guests staying 6 night or longer plus honeymooners and anniversary
stays of 6 nights, a complimentary half hour massage is included. All other spa
treatments are extra. All spa services and complimentary optional treatments
are subject to change without notice.
Tipping is not necessary since
it's included in the price. Your kind words and especially a written
recommendation of an employee's performance you have enjoyed is the most
valuable token as anything you can tip.
Introduce yourself to your
waiter, bar tender and maid and make them a friend. The junior wait staff are
often new or are trainees so they may be a little shy so be friendly. They will
often reward you with better than expected service.
NUDE
side: All guest rooms are "prude" requiring some type of cover up in and around
the hotel. On the separate au natural beach side of the resort, no guest rooms
located there but the walk down the lushly tropical path is only about 50-100
meters from building A, so take your "stuff" with you such as
sunscreen, beach cover up, sandals, snorkel gear, hat and whatever else ladies
can find to pack into their beach bags. The nude beach is physically separate
from the main beach and includes its own nude Jacuzzi, nude pool, beach bar and
grill, with a great view of the Caribbean sea... a super place to be at sundown
about 6-630 PM daily with your champagne in your hand.
Typical organized daily/nightly activities include daily
orientation, yoga, aerobics, Tae Bo, trivia contests, karaoke, sing along's,
golf and tennis lessons, pool volleyball, fashion shows, dance classes, pool
Olympics, ping pong, pool, bingo, dominoes, Casino night, cards, pool and on
and on. The entertainment will keep you busy if you want to be.
Theme
nights include Caribbean showcase & Carnival fever, Casino night, Friday
night celebration and dining on the lawn and more. NOTE: Theme nights and
special occasions are subject to change without notice. The above activities
may be revised by the entertainment staff occasionally.
There is no
disco on site and entertainment nightly usually includes a band or singer with
combo or variations thereof. If you enjoy more of a subdued atmosphere, this is
the place for you.
However, Ocho Rios is just a short, five minute cab
ride away, so you can find night life quickly if you want it. An addition to
downtown Ocho Rios is the Island Village, a colorful complex and entertainment
park near the main street, located in a beautiful cove where you're near
everything. See SIGHTSEEING below for more information.

You cannot go hungry at this resort.
Choose from the following for your meals and snacks: Two beach side grills,
Casanova French restaurant or the Ristorante Palazzina for breakfast, lunch and
dinner, a swim up bar on both the nude side plus room service.
Reservations are required for Casanova. Long pants for the
guys and jackets are required for Casanova (NO ties, guys). Make your dinner
reservations for Casanova with the concierge.
Some of the finest meals
we've ever had on island have been at Casanova... great for service,
presentation and menu selections with a great wine list included. Elegant and
romantic, to be sure.

Sans Souci offers a degree of style and
sophisticated elegance not often seen in the Caribbean. With its quaint
Bermuda-inspired architecture, lush tropical foliage, and dramatic cliff-side
location, with two perfect beaches, Sans Souci is a place guaranteed to spoil
you. If you want "romantic," this is the place for you.
All suites have
great views and for those with balconies, you can't beat having your

morning coffee overlooking the ocean. Or, at about
6--6:30PM, share a sunset drink with your honey on the same balcony, patio or
beach.
With several different building units, you'll never feel
crowded and you won't feel like you're in a cookie cutter resort. Best location
of rooms, in our opinion, are buildings A and B, beachfront, nearest the nude
beach and facing the main beach. Both two story buildings have patios on the
first level and balconies on the second level.
Light entertainment, a
resident band and a strolling musicians continue the mood throughout the
property.
Don't miss the Grand Gala on Friday nights, which takes place
on the beach front lawn in front of buildings A & B, where you will enjoy
an elegant meal with all types of food and ice carvings outside plus Tuesday
nights, it's Jamaican night barbecue on the private, torch lit beach.
Make
friends with the wait staff and treat them with respect... learn their names
and introduce yourself.
Tips:
Check IN time is officially 3 PM.
DO NOT count on a room being available beforehand. If you get one, consider
yourself blessed. If not, leave your luggage at reception, stash your carry on
bag, hustle down to the nude pool and drop your drawers. We've seen numerous
couples waste a half day or more waiting around the lobby for a room which
won't be ready until after 3 PM anyway. Just go ahead and have fun... you can
go back to the reception area after 5-6 PM to claim you room key. One of the
bellmen will take your luggage to your room and you can leave your bags with
him while you do your thing if you wish.
As soon as you arrive at the
resort, ask the concierge to make reservations for Casanova. Get a massage
outdoors in the rock house overlooking the ocean for a real treat!
Check
with the water sports shack to schedule your snorkel or dive trips. Divers,
bring your "C" Card with you for scuba trips. Dive in the morning and do your
sailing in the afternoons, since the wind picks up after lunchtime,
usually.
CHECK OUT time is 12 noon daily. Just stash your carry on
luggage in a friend's room if you stay after 12 noon and party on until your
shuttle bus is scheduled to depart the resort.

There are almost 20 choices for optional tours and
sight seeing off site. Highlights include a shopping tour to Ocho Rios, a
downhill bicycle tour from the mountains, past villages and ending at sea level
for a meal and drink, a tour of Dunn's River Falls near Ocho Rios for a great,
wet climb up a waterfall (do it once at least), a rafting trip down one of the
many scenic Jamaican rivers, sunset cruises, a chance to swim with dolphins at
Dolphin Cove, horseback riding (nude or prude), deep sea fishing and trips to
other villages such as Negril or Port Antonio. These trips can be arranged at
the Tour Desk at the resort.
Private drivers can also be hired right at
the resort for a do-it-yourself tour if you wish. Rental cars can be arranged
at the resort but don't expect any deals since both vehicles and gasoline are
no bargain in Jamaica.
An addition to downtown Ocho Rios is the Island
Village, a colorful complex and entertainment park near the main street,
located in a beautiful cove where you're near everything. The complex was
developed by Chris Blackwell, the entertainment and resort honcho. For a taste
of island culture and creativity, drop in for a visit to its specialty stores,
restaurants and entertainment venues including another of Jimmy Buffett's
Margaritaville chain, Starfish Oils and the ReggaeXplosion. Visit a "Taste of
India" also on the main street with a drop dead, roof top view of town, the
cruise ships and bay across the street. Taste of India, an award winning ethnic
restaurant, is owned by two former managers from SuperClubs.

You will want for hardly anything at this resort
except nightlife, if you're expecting it. |
| |
|
|
|
 |
The nude side beach (about 400-500 feet long) is
separate from the prude side with a nice little lagoon in which to enjoy the
salt water and great for snorkeling. |
| |
|
|
|
 |
Never a difficulty finding a chaise lounge or towel
on the nude side. |
| |
|
|
| |
 |
The Balloon bar is charming if small but, hey, what a
way to meet your new found friends. |
| |
|
|
| |
 |
The Friday night Gala and BBQ with steak, lobster in
season, seafood and other wonderful munchies are a site to behold and is a
unique experience on the lawn. Take your camera for the spectacle, complete
with ice carvings. |
| |
|
|
| |
 |
On the nude beach, there's lots of space for all
nudists and plenty of places to park your butt without any crowding whatsoever.
If you wish to take in the sunset on the nude beach or in the nude pool, make
sure you order your drink before the nude swim up bar closes...usually around 6
PM. Depending upon the time of the year, sunset can be about 630 PM or later
and of course, earlier in the winter season. |

|
|
| |
 |
Plan on rain during your vacation... you're in the
topics so take an umbrella. |
| |
|
|
|
|
| |
Just about anytime is great in Jamaica. Hurricane season
can bring potentially unstable weather during late August, September and early
October. But, such storms are not frequent.
|
|
| |
Wish there were guest buildings and rooms right in front of
the nude beach... it would be a great view. The existing soccer field would be
the perfect place for it.
Wish there were maybe a small disco or dance
floor, to shake your bootie if you so desire, out by the soccer field perhaps,
away from the guest rooms and hotel buildings.
