Florida Keys Looking for that perfect, private getaway? Check out our new discovery, "Secret Key" for a intimate vacation that you will never forget. During October's trip to the Florida Keys, we found a private, 9-acre island with beach house you can rent by the week. Thanks to Host Couple, Gary & Terrie for the tip. You can have the run of the place which includes a perfect Key West-style beach house that can sleep up to 10 total, but we recommend only 3 couples at the most. Complete with all the amenities you would expect in a private home, the extra element you'll enjoy is privacy....other than an occasional fisherman boating by on the way to his next big catch. Travelling from the dock to the island takes about 5-10 minutes by boat at slow speed. The 9-acre island is accessible by flying into the Marathon, Florida Airport. You can also drive to Marathon on U.S.highway # 1 about one hour+ south by car from Miami's International Airport. In addition to the home and island, the package includes a power boat which gives you complete freedom to come and go as you please, day or night. Numerous restaurants and bistros are close by and accessible by your boat. Rental rates for the island, home and boat range from about $5,000-$6,000/week total, depending upon the season. Rates subject to change without notice. Food and drink are extra and can be arranged in advance with the caretakers.
